For those of you that don't of Bob Hoover, he used to post quite a bit on the air-cooled newsgroup (RAMVA) and a collection of his best work was compiled and posted on Type2.com as "The Sermons of Bob Hoover."
Bob is an experianced VW mechanic, with many other tallents and interest. One of his best tallents is the colorful way he relates his knowlede and experiance in his writings.
Unfortunantly Bob recieved so much hate mail about some of his writings that he had them removed from Type2.com . . . then when some folks started fighting over publishing rights for the collection on CD-ROM, he had those stopped too. Bob was never writing for money, just to relay his experiances and offer his advice. One thing I really respect about Bob is I have seen several times in his writing tell people not to trust what the are told . . . Think for yourself . . . You are the mechanic in charge . . . things like that.
Anyway, I did a search the other day on google.com and found that the air-cooled newsgroup archives go way back, and you can find lots of stuff he's written. Go to
Google.com, click on "Groups" and do a search for whatever VW related subject you need some advice on, and add "Veeduber" (Bob's screen name) to your search.
Just a word of warning though . . . Bob writes what he thinks . . . and if he thinks something is "bull****," he won't hesitate to say it's bull****! Some of his writings get a little colorful! Here's one to get you started:
