Oktoberfest show

Well for those that were not around. zen backed up the title with Homer as the bonified ugliest Vdub in Chattanooga. Guess Homer will have Mickey Mouse ears now.  The top award went to Anthonys formula v. The second place went to the mighty duct tape vanagon,Monster garage should hire that guy. He makes pop corn too! And my 67 some how took 3rd. 8) (Chrome won't get you home but I think The engine bay got me 3rd)It wasn't the herbie decals cause Fieldings was much nicer and authentic.(now I want a 63)

Sorry Anthony on the mix up.

For everyone else,These shows are just a fun way to get together and see other Vw's in the area. Feel free to stop on by. Some folks may not like the out come of the events ,but  mumblin and such just isn't what Volks Folks is about. Take it home and keep working .Thanks to all who attended.

It was good to see everyone briefly down at the Market.  I had to get up to Nashville in the afternoon so couldn't enter the Ghia or stop for long, but I enjoyed my brief visit.

I've got a load of photos - who wants them?!

Don't let it bother you Scott. Consider what city you are living in.  This little show was not Pebble Beach Caif.  or Hershy Pa. where your million dollar Dusenburg might place  5th. I could have walk through the whole pile of VWs down there yesterday and found something wrong or inacurate with every machine down there, but do we really care ?  If you are proud of the resto-job you did on your Bug/Bus ,so be it. Now if you showed up at the show with a chopped ,channel, slamed, flame incrusted 1943 Kubelwagen with spinning hubcaps, I think even I would have something to say about it, but in the end its not worth having a stroke over it. For the most part Scott, you will find out the core group of the VolksFolks are some of the greatest , helpful and just plain fun bunch of folks you will ever meet even if VWs were not in the picture. Its really easy to get inspired to have a VW project after you start hanging out with this "Bunch". The Good,Bad and The Ugly are welcomed here thank goodness.
The bottom line: Don't worry about it. 8)

When all the trophies were handed out and I stood empty handed, I told my daughter that we didn't win a prize.  She said to me, "But Daddy, I thought you were a champion?"
I told her that I am a champion..."I am your champion." :inlove:

I sure hope that it wasn't a Volks Folk who vented to a child.  That's childish in itself.  [-X

I have been to my share of VW shows in the Southeast in 1999, 2000 and especially in 2001. At EVERY show when a person won there was ALWAYS applause for them. There were always people stopping by the car and asking questions. When we were building the car you can bet your bottom dollar we asked many, many questions to the VW folks. I never had anyone of them refuse to help. There were many who came to us with advice.

However I have attended a few of the "OPEN" type car shows where out of the goodness of their and I quote Tennessee Ernie Ford here" Little Pea Picking Hearts" they included a class for imports. About 80-85% of the looked down their noses at us. And when the prizes were awarded, did they applaude?? NO!! I observed this when I was at the show in Lafayette. The only applause I heard was when the VW awards went out. All I can say is, some of those folks better never go out in a rain storm or they will drown.

As for me I will stick withthe Volksfolks as long as they will let me. It has remained stable since I first became acquainted with it and I see no reason why it will not continue that way. My only regret is that Chattanooga is not closer to Tallapoosa so I could get to the cruise in and other get togethers.

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with you handing the trophy to your son.  Lots of folks at the shows send their kids to pick up their trophy's at our shows.  These cars become a part of the family and everyone has a piece of themselves in it no matter what the age.  I don't have a clue who would have said something to you but please realize that all who were at the show were not Scenic City Volks Folks members.  I don't think you will find another group around who is any more proud of their fellow members when they bring home their trophy's.  We only want to have fun!!! :D

I'm not sure who you are refering to, but I've been around these guys for 3 years now.  And one thing I now is that they love to give each other a hard time.  Are you sure your not confusing smack talk with just pure joking fun.  I was there at the show and the genral mood of everyone was just laid back having a great time.

I know what your saying Copperjewel. I was at the stocking full of love show in Rock Springs and when they called my name for a trophy all the Volks Folks applaused. And I won a trophy with my old dunebuggy just because there were five trophys and only four cars in my class. My buggy is far from show winning material. But the Volks Folks where just proud of a fellow member.  :D  :hippy2:

We all come to have fun and honestly I just can't see anyone being mean to a child? I hope that, that didn't happen but I don't think you should use the forum as a way to handle this situation because so many visitors get on here to read and how does that look really? You can't really take must of our teasing serious if you know all of us you will find we joke ALOT.

Cindy, I could not have put it any better. Your thoughts well stated.
Amanda, You have a very valid point about what to post or not post.

I think the VolksFolks have figured out that I love to kid around and poke a little fun at certain things that pop up, but belive me when I say its all in jest. I don't think I have "Ticked" anybody off. I would be really disappointed if one of our own was the culprit. Enough said. Lets change the subject.
