Off-Topic Question - Well, sort of off topic

« on: October 31, 2002, 08:36:59 AM »
Now that we have a photo gallery, I'd like to take and post lots of pictures.  So, I need a digital camera.  I want to get one that is GOOD, but CHEAP.  Anyone have any recomendations?

Keep in mind that I have a somewhat antique computer. It's a Pentium 166 (running, excuse me, crawling Windoze 98 OS) and has a nearly full hard drive and no USB port. I have bought but not yet installed a used CD writer for it.  Once it's in place, storage space won't be a problem, but I've still got to interface the camera with this old computer.

You don't have a whole lot of options these days w/o a USB port.  You could find a camera like I gave my Dad probably pretty cheap on ebay (a Sony Mavica w/ the 3.5" floppy's) but it only takes so so pictures IMO compared w/ today's technology.  That version of camera is now about 5 years old.

I am VERY happy with my Canon S110, its the one in the metal Elph body, takes awesome quality pictures and fits in my pocket, goes everywhere with me.

I was given a digital camera that is USB but with my computer I'd need some kind of adapter to use it so I reckon i'm out of luck using it until I can find an adapter .
