Turns out dad had found the wet spot early today before I got there. We drained the trench that he dug and found the pipe. Turned the water back on to see which end of the trench the leak was on. It was right where a root had pushed up on the copper pipe. They had it replaced about 12 years ago so it wasn't galvanized. Well it turns out the copper pipe was placed over the old pipe and that root wasn't a root but the old pipe. Dissimilar metals corroded a hole in the copper pipe. Got two connectors and a piece of pex and snapped it all together. No leak and the yard didn't get messed up cause it was in a natural area under the monkey grass. No worries, all is ok in 'North Triangle!'

another explosive day at the von house! I got off work and went to pick up my new Iphone. I came home to switch cars and change clothes. When I came in the bottom floor of our split foyer home, I thought that the house smelled funky but chalked it up to the weather and the HVAC not cycling enough to move the air. Then I got to the stairs and smelled doritos... hmmm smells like natural gas. Got to the landing and got another whiff. Top of the stairs- stronger. Walked over to the stove. Yup, it was on; no flame. Turned it off and opened up ALL of the doors and windows. Thank goodness there was a good breeze today.
After thinking about it, it was the front left eye that was left of "LO". I came home late from work and Megan had already cooked some dinner for us. After eating, I cleaned my cast iron skilled that had been in the "to be cleaned/sorted" pile since CYW. I decided to heat it up and season it. Then I did the same with my dutch oven- I heated it up in the oven. After that I boiled some eggs for breakfast. Interestingly I only used the front right eye (its for smaller pots), so that eye had been from when Megan heated the mashed potatoes around 6pm. I found the eye around 3pm. We had 21 hours of natural gas leaked into our house and we slept through/lived in most of it
Now you can all ease off of me and start giving her flak!!!
