new NMS photos-naked!

Sorry, the work computer won't show the photos (apparently, even naked autos are "verboten" at school). If someone else can make them appear on this thread, please do!

Here they are. The comments indicate this may not be the NMS built in the US, but rather the Chinese version.

Looks like a "Pass-at-it with a different front end.  I thought the dang thing was going to  look a little slicker . Kind of a ho-hum Camery looking to me. :-\

A little birdie told me this is almost identical to the US version. Also this new car will be known as the Passat.

There was a time when you tell who manufactured a car from a distance in the dark. Now, regardless of the brand, they all seem to be pulled from one of 4 or 5 different molds.  Price, performance and durability is what will make or brake it.  So far, I like what I've seen . . . can't wait to test drive one!   ;D

I don't know what you're talking about, Zen....

I think this is one of the few "unique modern designs" that you could easily identify the maker....

Not exactly, it's just redesigned for 2011.

The best thing i could see looking at the pics of the new version is the hood looks longer.. .that should hopefully translate into easier to work under the hood.  New beetles can be a pain about that....  ;)

They need to put the engine back in the rear where it belongs now that the rear end is longer. Then they would have a proper Beetle.  Then install a good automatic tranny.
(Cindy could tell you all about this).

Hey David guess what???  VW is supposed to be making good on the transmission problem we had.  We received a letter from them a couple of weeks ago that said they have extended the warranty on the valve body to 100,000 miles or 7 years since they have "received customer complaints of affected vehicles that may experience a hard shift from first to second gear, and also from second to third gear".  The affected vehicles are "Certain 2003-2008 MY Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Vehicles".  I mailed the receipts and claim form to them yesterday.  Hopefully within the next 60 days we will get a check from them to cover the repairs.     :)
