i just read that VW will debut the NB Vert in 2 months at the auto show and is planning a 2002(late) production.

has anyone else heard anything?

I've been hearing "early next year," "later this year," "soon," ect., ever since mid 1998. :dozingoff: I will believe it when I see it!

I have one on my Christmas wish list. :xmas: Hopefully they will be availble by Christmas next near . . . our lease will finally be up on this Jeep Cherokee (NEVER sign a 5 lease on anything, especially if it's made by Chrysler!!) so maybe we will be able to afford one IF they are out by then.

I read somewhere that they will be out in September of 2002....

a "reliable" source "leaked" some internal vw docs saying that the karmann beetle will make the auto show in january. they continued that vw is planning an august delivery date.

stay tuned for more and/or give us the dirt you've heard.

Humm . . . August "Delivery" date? August is the begining of VWs model year, so if they are delivered in August that would mean the very first ones are probably going to be built in June or July and be VERY LATE 2002 models?!? If so, there would be VERY FEW 2002 New Beetle Verts made. By the time they start delivering them in August, the 2003's will be in production.

Highly desired, first year of production, very low production numbers . . . sounds like the recipe for a very sound investment!

OK, I've talked myself into getting one! All I have to do now is talk the bank into loaning me the money!

most all of them will probably be turbos in the beginning.

i would say that they will actually be 2003 models. zen's philosophy seems to be correct (as usual).

i'm with zen. anyone wanna adopt a millennium bug?

geek, supposedly karmann is "helping" with it. i'm not sure to what extent.
