well if you are using a u-haul trailer hitch make sure it's good and tight. They tend to want to fall off.I use to have a dealership for 5 years and they scared me.Those chains will eat the chrome off your bumper if you have a chrome bumper.Make several test runs before you head out making sure they are not just wedged on something that will slide off.Another thing I wouldn't rent I alway's hid them behind the building were those car top carriers.U-haul told me if I scratched someones car putting it on or taking it off it would cost me not them.So behind the building they went lol.

I think I would really have a perm hitch put on.I know they are 160 dollars but I would hate to see your car come off.

The bracket that bolts to the car seems pretty solid. It's held on with six bolts and the tow bar mounts with half-inch pins. Drawback is that the hitch system is not adjustable like a blue Ox or a Roadmaster but the VW is so light, I can move it easily and line up the hitch with the ball on the tow vehicle.

Man, if this thing comes loose, it will definately spoil my day. I intend to check the bolts and hitch at every stop.

Well Ron buy one then sell it on the samba.Someone should buy it.The towbar.Rent the bumper hitch. It's hard to find a tow bab at u-haul so rent one and do it at a moving center, not a dealer.A dealer can add money on to it and a center can't. I do know that.
