Monster Garages show - on Discovery channel 9 PM

« on: June 24, 2002, 03:46:50 PM »
I have never seen the show, but I saw that tonight's Monster Garages episode will be a transition of a New Beetle into a swamp buggy.  The engine for the propeller is a 110 hp air-cooled VW engine.  I think I will try and watch this tonight. :alien:

I saw the show thanks to Alan H. who called after it was about 5 min. in progress.

Those guys are definately "different" and dance to the toon of a different drummer.   LOL

This was the first time I had ever seen this show but now I'm hooked.

I missed that episode, but caught one later last night where they converted a Mustang 5.0 Convertible into a lawn  mower . . . yep, those folks are different for sure!

Not bad for 7 days and $3000!  Anyone up for a tech session?  Maybe we could use an air-cooled Beetle, they already float and have an engine in the back!
Thanks for the heads-up!

I really want to see this show.....

however, I've got to seriously question the supposed $3k spending limit, is noone aware of just how much House of Kolor Paint is....then lets not talk about the stuff that changes colors.  Add to that the wheels that they drop on these rides, you are talking probably $2k each set (lets just say for arguments sake they got off easy and got sets for $1,500 that were used or something).  Then add the materials they use in construction (We all know that running Beetle engines aren't free!)  Like Hydralic actuators, steel and aluminum stock, water pumps.....You see where I'm going here.

That said, can't wait to see some of this fun :)
