I have done the 50-50 Acetone and ATF and it does work.
I used to keep a spray bottle of the mixture in the garage, but it does not store well, the acetone eats up the rubber seals of the spray gun.
It needs to be a mix as you use it scenario, if I had kept the %'s down to 10-20% acetone it would have been more stable and less corrosive to the rubber.

Acetone is good for lot's of stuff.  A couple of ounces in a tank of gas can improve gas mileage . . . not a huge amount, but enough to notice.  It will also perminantly destroy a nest of termites in the ground . . . especially if you drop a match on the ground about 30 seconds after soaking it with the acetone.  I recommend that if you set it on fire, you stand to the side of the acetone soaked area, not in the middle of it.  By the way, do you know that when acetone soaked ground is burning, you can't see the fire?

Check out sure shot,  metal refillable sprayer recharged with air nozzle,  we keep brake clean in them
