Lowest Price Gas Finder

« on: June 05, 2008, 12:36:11 AM »
I started to name this thread the "Cheap Gas Finder" or "Low Price Gas Finder" but with the cheapest stuff over 3.70 a gallon, Cheap or Low Price doesn't fit the bill.  Anyway, for the lowest price in your neighborhood, check out this link and enter your zip code:

Walt Berry (the guy with the Baja Beetle Pickup) emailed this to the club and it seemed to be worth sharing.  Thanks Walt!  It has saved me a couple of bucks at the pump already!

Ive been meaning to ask what octane gas everyone uses. I use 93 octane and it runs great if I use 88 octane it runs like poo. With gas prices the way they are 92 is gettin too much to bear.

Mine runs great on 87 , Retbugtech told me that putting more than 87 in my tank was a waste of money! 8)

87 runs just fine as long as your compressions are stock and you are not trying to run your Ing. timing to high.

Don't be confused if you read 91 RON in your manual or on your fuel flap. At US pumps the octane rating is presented as (R+M)/2, which just averages the RON and MON. 91 RON = 87 octane here, and it's perfectly fine for a stock motor. I run it in both the bus and the Jetta.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Russ. I have always wanted to know what that ment on my gas filler flap. I thought i would have to put a higher octine in mine, but i always put the 87 in my 1970 beetle i had and it ran fine and it is running great with it in the new motor that Scott put in for me. Learn something new every day...........Rob
