Looking for a good car cover

« on: August 22, 2011, 09:41:11 PM »
I park the notchback underneath the deck in the back yard and I bought a generic car cover at Target for $30 to help keep it protected. The other day I noticed that the front was ripped wide open, and when I looked at it closer it looks as if the sun had just baked and disintegrated the poor cover. The pieces left crumbled in my hand they were so brittle.

Since the sun shines brightest on that side of the house, I'm planning on hanging a tarp from the deck to help shield it. But I was wondering what a good car cover to get would be. I don't mind paying a little more for one that's not a generic one, but then again the fitted custom ones from California Car Cover are pretty pricey. Is there a good middle-of-the-road one to get?

Wolf 5-layer. I've used a couple for years in the sun and rain.

Walmart brown and silver.  Brown side hides the car well.    Silver side reflects sunlight well.    Nine bucks or so

I think the one we bought for the shower bus was about $240 with shipping.  It seems to be very well made and so far (about a year and half) it's holding up well.  It came from Mid-America Motorworks.

I agree with Zen. The cover for the shower bus stood the direct mid-day sun for a year and other than some stains on the top of it from water and leaves, it still works fine. and the bottom of the cover had a nice elastic strip in it.

Not as far as I know.  I think it's still in the club trailer.
