...anyone that has experience narrowing and installing adjusters on a ball joint beam.  I am not necessarily looking for someone to do it for me, just someone to oversee and mentor me on doing it.

Rick knows how and I do too cept Rick welds betta. :lol:  I can stand around drinkin your beer and tell ya how. Its really a PITA. You gotta strip the beam down to just the tubes all the narrowing has to come out of the middle of the beam and if you want it to go pretty low then you have to angle the adjutrs back just right to achieve that. I have a guy I can order waterjet cut sideplates and such from ya if you want something real nice.

How narrow you going? I highly recomend a 6inch narrowed beam. Do yourself a big favor get a big metal rod and knock those factory needle bearings outta it and buy BUGPACK bushings and BUGPACK adjusters. Do not use Empi adjuters or bushings. There's alot of lil tricks I'd be happy to share em if ya want.

RECAP" 6 inch narrowed BUGPACK thanes,BUGPACK adjusters. Then get with me on the angled adjusters the angle is the art man. Figure out how low and compensate when you build it. The ride quality will depend on it.
A 6 incher done right rides almost as smooth as stock.  8)

What is the advantage of a 6"?  I have been doing tons of research and most everyone goes with the 6".  Most of them say that you cannot use shocks if you narrow that much and that there may be some problems mounting the steering box.  I am really unsure of how much specifically I want to lower it at this time.  I do know that I want a rake to it and for it to sit as low it can but still be able to drive the damn thing.  I like the stance of this bug below.  Note: the engine is not installed in this car.  I had planned on running the same wheels as in the photo until my guy I was buying from backed out.  So for now it is back to stock wheels.

If you plan on buying  rims at some point you need a 6 inch beam.
At 4 inches you loose the shocks,by cutting 2 inches more off the torsions you stiffen the load on them and reduce the floppyness most 4 inch beams have. Same thing with needle bearings ditch em the thanes keep it snug and provide resistance. If your wanting anything less buy a CB Performance 2 inch beam and be done with it. No matter what get drop spindles for it. It all depends on the look you want.

Oh btw that yella bug looks like 1 outer or maybe 1 inner spline in the rear and looks to be rockin 135 tires and guess what probably a 6inch beam.
That is what I call the cal look stance. It aint hammered but he did go all out with a big boy beam.

Smaller(185/65/15) tires would help the rear a lil.

This pic is as low as you can roll a ball joint car and not hit stuff.
2 splines in the rear, 4 inch beam (narrow 4 inch tire 135's)Rear tires 185/65/15. If it had anything other than stock rims or in this case chromies it would have to have a 6 inch beam. I had the car lower than this at 1 point but it was a scarey thing to ride in.

145/65/15's on stock rims 4 inch beam. 2 clicks rear 195/65/15 on 7 inch wide rims. Awesome turning radius but the beam hit everything on the road. But it looked cool. :lol:

Oh and it has drop spindles on it since the begining.

I like the stance of both of those cars.  My original plan was to run the stock rims with whitewalls.  I really want to run the pre-'67 smooth wheels rather than my stockers with the oval holes in them.  I would be totally happy if I could do that but I'm four lug and they are five.

I think they sell aftermarket smoothies in 4 lug. Put some caps on em and nobody could tell.

If they still are offered, American Racing used to make 4-lug chrome plated smoothies.  I know this cause a friend of mine bought some for the rear of his trike.
They used a plain, domed hubcap.
