Allright, all those without kids in or around the Hamilton County School system...
The kids are selling the coupon books with coupons for a variety of businesses.  Talia will bring some on Monday night for anyone interested.  They are $10 each and will pay for themselves after redeeming just a few of them.  If you think you might want some, let me know...we have to pay for them in advance.

Sorry Travis but our little cousin is selling them also so we already have one. They will pay for themselves though in about 30 minutes. We've already got our money back.

:D Since everyone is saving all this money I have come up with a brilliant plan on what needs to be done. Go to the members only section and get my home address. Make out a check payable to me for the amount you saved and mail it to that address. I promise to put the money to good use. I am going to get me an old dasher and get the Godfather to help me restore it.     This is a win win situation for everyone with all this spending going on look at how the economy is being boosted.  :usa2:

That sounds like a good idea CJ.I got a Danbury Mint book the other day with just The Classics of the open road with all the muscle cars in it and some ships and war car's etc.I had a few of these cars in high school and and dying to order a few. Damn they are 120 dollars plus S&H.They have the same color cars and same year and I am about to die to order a few.Damn wish they weren't so expensive. I have some Franklin Mint corvettes but I got them as a christmas present and they don't mean any thing because the years are not the ones I want.Know anyone wanting a few for half price.I got a 53,57 and a 55.The doors open and the hood so you can see the engines and the trunks open.Detailed underneathThey are mint with dust lol The tops come off.But I just want a car that I had for memories. They are die cast 1/24 scale. They are nice but no sentimental value.

I've got a better idea everybody could chip in and help me buy another dune buggy since I'm VWless again. I've found a keeper it's a Empi Imp buggy now if I can just scrape up the money for it.

I was VWless once...I was 18 years old and decided that my Nissan was way too reliable and promptly sold it, bought a '72 Super Beetle (that I had to roll start on the initial test drive--In literature we call that foreshadowing.)... I haven't been without at least one, usually a lot more, since.  That's a lot of tune-ups, oil changes, valve adjustments, and oil leaks.  Purple knuckles in the bay-window bus during the 5 degree winters in Cookeville,  Sweat causing me to stick to the black vinyl seats of my '69 bug in the summer... lying on my back in the snow thawing out the accelerator cable tube with a hair drier to free up the cable in the split window bus...broken accelerator cables, cluth cables, failed brake pedals due to rupturing wheel cylinders made in Brazil...but chicks thought the bugs/ buses were cool and I was therefore cool for driving one.  Ahh, yes worth every bit of the agony...or perhaps it was the unhealthy addiction to the leaking fuel vapors that I developed.  And why is it that we seem to find the money to build up the fleet ( "I just couldn't pass it up...it was a steal!" ) but don't have the cash to change the oil or put fuel in our driver???  Crazy, just crazy.
I'd give you the cash Jason, but I just bought an old truck...It was a steal...don't have the money to buy a replacement for that leaky valve cover gasket, though... Oh boy, here we go again....
That's SIX vehicles...My Allstate agent loves me...When he picked up the phone the last time I called him the first thing he said to me was "What kind of VW did you buy now?"...he was shocked when the first thing out of my mouth was "Dodge"...he said he didn't know that Volkswagen made those....smartass.

P.S.  I've always loved the Imps, definitely one of the prettier buggies out there...Speaking of buggies, You got the Allison on the road yet, David?
What are you waiting on for crying out loud?

Will certdubtech if it's not a VW it had better be a Dodge. I've always been a Ford man but A couple of years ago I had a 92 full size Bronco It was very nice Eddie Bauer spend $2,200.00 on a transmission then it had to go traded it for a 87 Ford F150 4X4 spend a ton of money on it and then I got a 89 Dodge pick up it was great only spend a little on it you know brakes and stuff. Then I wanted something newer it was still a great truck and got a 99 full size Dodge van and I love it not really spend any money to speak of on it ( knock on wood ) The point I'm getting at is the Dodge's have give me better service. ( knock on wood again )

I'm not totally VWless I do have a 69 Baja just a parts car.

Does your truck have a 318 in it? If so I have one valve cover gasket I'll give you I replaced one on my old truck never took the time to do the other side.

A 318???!!  Holy cow.  Now that would be really cool.
I should clarify, it's not a real Dodge, but "made by Mitsubishi for Chrysler Corporation"....It's a 1981 Ram 50, one of the little 2.0 4 cyl. trucks.
117,000 miles, sold off by the original owner last year to another guy, bought by me a month or so ago.  Primered front fenders, but I have less than $700 in the thing and that includes a full tune-up, new exhaust (including a new cat. convertor), new tires, and the totally cool Brown Saddle blanket bench seat cover...the receipt for that was in the pile of paperwork in the glovebox.  The Owner's manual, warranty manual and warranty explanation form along with the receipt for his cash purchase price of a little more than $4000  were in there too.  All lights work, wipers, heater, fan, locks, tailgate all work.  No air, No power steering, no sir... just the basics, please.  As a matter of fact, I know of nothing that doesn't work on the truck.  After having an air-cooled 1600 short block roll over in the trunk of my beloved Golf while turning, dumping the remaining oil all over the carpet, It's a welcome addition to the driveway.
And a note to the skeptics:  It passed the Emissions Test too.
That should make Mother Earth happy.

Yeah, the 318 would be a fun swap, though.
But then, the gas mileage would just go to Hell.

Alright "Little Rickey"  Anybody that would drive a Saki Sucker D-50 doesn't have the right to pick on me about having my Allison done. I guess the next thing I'll hear is you bought a Daewoo to make a Rally car and a Yugo to build into a drag car.
As far as the Allison goes,   THERE WILL BE NO WINE BEFORE ITS TIME.

Daewoo?
Yugo?
I think not, herr David.
You can also add Kia and Hyundai to my "pass" list.
For the record, the '84 GTI is the rally project, and I don't have any money, so I'll probably never have a drag car.
As for the D50, I feel the gas mileage to be better than your remarks imply.
Therefore, I most respectfully request that you refer to my little P.O.S. as not a "Saki-Sucker", but rather a "Saki-Sipper".
Keep it up and I will abandon the Dasher at your house, chaining it to your beloved Allison and then I'll call everybody in the club to come by and see, then they'll know of the love you truly have for the underrated Dasher and then Ill take pictures to preserve the moment, and then...and then...sorry, gotta lay off the caffeine.
And, incidentally, I don't think it is possible to Underrate the Dasher as it sets its own standards pretty darned low.
And that's when everything's working....
Wait a second...Dasher...Drag Car...Dasher...umm, never mind.

There was an error while liking
Liking...
