Justin's House

« on: January 05, 2010, 09:19:39 AM »
I just got a message from Zen that Justin's house burned down this morning.  Every one is OK, but house is total loss.

Keep Justin and his familly in your prayers.

This is all I know.

The fire started in the garage.  By the time they realized there was a fire, it was too big for their fire extingushers to do any good.  It got into the attic and the whole thing was engulfed in just a few minutes.

Justin, Carla and Kevin (Carla's boyfriend) were all at home when it started.  Kevin stayed a little too long trying to fight it with a fire extingusher and suffered from slight smoke inhailation and Justin got his eyebrows slightly singed, but other than that they are fine.  Justin lost his new motorcycle and his original '56 Bug that were in the garage and his bus caught fire before he could get it moved away from the house . . . the insides and top are burnt to a crisp, but it didn't get to the drive train, so at least parts of it are salvageable.

But, "stuff" can be replaced.  I'm thankful everyone got out safely.  They have a place to stay and we are in the process of getting them some new clothes and shoes . . . what they need most right now is prayers.

Carla had just went for a "4-D" ultrasound yesterday afternoon.  She got a CD with still photos and a VHS tape but hadn't looked at either of them and they were in the house.  This afternoon we found the CD and Tape in the rubble.  The CD's case was melted on the edges but the CD was fine!   :D   The tape was still in the box and soaked and one edge of the case was melted, but I took it apart and the tape and reels appear to be fine. I'll put it in another case and keep our fingers crossed.

In the mean time, here's a picture of my grand-daughter that's due in March:

I guess that every cloud has a silver linning.

Just a thought, there was a earthquake this morning centered in Lafayette, it was a 2.5 on the R scale, I am wondering if it might have knocked something over or off a shelf or something....

Just a thought, it is a weird coincidence that the earth rolled, and Justin's house caught fire within hours.

Let me know if I can help any... I am just glad they are OK.
