January 17th -- A Significant Day for VWs

« on: January 17, 2006, 07:00:34 PM »
Today is a very significant day in VW History.  73 years ago today (January 17, 1933) Ferdinand Porsche submited his now famous proposal titled "Expose on the Design and Construction of a German People's Car".

16 years to the day later (January 17, 1949) Ben Pon imported the first Beetle to the US.

Think about it . . . how may cars designed 16 years ago are in production today?  How many cars designed 16 years ago will remain in production for nearly 70 years?

Most GMs look like they were designed sixteen years ago. Does that count?
