No beer till I run this 5 k on sat

Seems like the guy I talked to about the main street parade said something about a few kegs may be left over from a beer run before the parade... I didn't inquire but it sounded like the participants consume some beer and run something like a 5k. Perhaps you are running the wrong race! Its the first time I have ever been mildly enticed to run a race... then I remembered I don't run...which must be why I didn't inquire the details...

Beer and running go together like, as Forest Gump would say, peas and carrots.  Beer supplys you with lots of carbs, running burns them up.  Back in my running days, all of my running buddies would "carb load" the night before a 5K.  Not me.  I never could drink beer.  I would do my "carb loading" with tequila . . . that might of had something to do with some of my last place finishes.

By the way, for those of you that have a hard time believing I used to be a runner, I've got a first place trohpy for the 1992 East Ridge 5K, Mens 30-34 age division to prove it.   ;D

I had plenty of competition.  I would bet that there were at least 100,000 men in my age division that lived close enough that they could have showed up and given me a run for the money . . . I can't help it that they chose to stay at home that morning!  And I did beat somebody . . . in my kick to the finish line I passed a woman (I think  she was in the 80 and over division) and a young girl (about 12 or 13) that had a bad limp.  Most of the race I was a step and half in front of the ambulance that follows the last runner.  But, reguardless of those facts, I WON my age division!

I ran the 5k race today.  Actually I walked with the grannies.  when I reached the half way point. The 10 k ers. Passed me. We ambled back to the finish line.   Soon the 10k ers. Are passing us on their return run.   Sometime  around  here  i found this two foot long treated wood 6 x 6.   So I started carrying it while we walked back.  At about 43 minutes we near the finish line.   All the time being past by hard running 10 k ers.   Since the grannies were in sight of the finish line,  I decide to jog the last 1000 feet.  Soon a teenager is running toward me and I say " Im gonna beat you to the finish line carrying this log!". The race is on!  Old guy with 6x6 vs youthful punk!  The teen was tired and gave me a WTF look.  pounding up hill with my 6x6 I get passed by the teen,  but I'm right on his heels. the crowd goes wild! I will win...I'm so tired...Log so heavy..  I lose the race.  at least I got another 6x6. To keep my cars from crushing me to death.   Sc
