Karmann is the name of a German independent coachbuilding company who built the cabriolet (convertible) Beetle for VW as well as the Karmann Ghia. What other information would you like to know?

Go to an open car show and park your (or any other) Ghia convertible next to his (or any other) completely restored Fairlane.  See which one gets the most attention and creates the most smiles . . . he'll ditch the Fairlane and get his own Karmman Ghia!

OK, after I re-read the post, I understand the orignal question.  Russ answered it.  I thought you had a Karmann Ghia Convertible . . . But you actually have a Beetle Convertible . . . right?  It has the Karmann badge on it because Karmann built the body.  It's a Beetle if it's a 1970 or older.  It's a Super Beetle if it's a 1971 or newer.  Convertible and Cabrolet are used interchangablly when it comes to Beetles and Super Beetles.

On getting your husband to like it, same thing applys as my last post.  A Beetle convertible in any condition will draw more attention than any Fairlane.   8)

We live on 15 acres and right now that's the only place I can drive it. So I drive it round and round the property. Gotta get some brakes

THis is a great post for Cartalk,  With gas prices as they are,

your bettkarmanvert should outrank the 5 ton fairlane.

Fuel cost alone should get the hubby to fix the brakes.

Sliding? Is one (or more) wheel locking up?

Karmann also built the Rabbit verts(Cabriolets), Sciroccos, and Corrados for VW.

The brakes are hard. They don't go to the floor. Feels like they are locking up. I think I just want the whole brake system fixed. Tear it out start from scratch. Any idea how much that would cost me?
