I saved a bug today

Hello everyone,
I saved a bug, but maybe I should have let it cross over.
Here is my new VW, I was hoping to have it ready for the bug show this week but I'm behind schedule.  Its a not so cherry $300 1970 superbeetle ,  The gas turned to Varnish and the fuel system is clogged terminally. The brake line squirts my ankle when I press the pedal.  It was promised to have a good motor and tranny.
I must be hopeful or naive.
The upside is that I found a mouse nest behind the passenger foot rest, a neat hot wheels car, a bullet,  and 76 cents in loose change under the seats. SC

Don't let it's current condition fool you.  7 or 8 years ago I gave an old farmer $75 for a 73 Bus he had sitting in his pasture.  He told me it had been sitting there for about 10 years.  He had won it in a poker game.  When the guy dropped it off in his pasture it had a blown engine and had been roller painted with army green house paint.  By the time I bought it, the shoes had rusted to the drums.  After about 6 months of it sitting in my back yard I sold it.  The new owner cleaned it up, sanded off most of the green paint, fixed the brakes and put an upright Type 1 motor in it.  Then he sold it.  The guy he sold it to drove it about 4 years, then I bought it back.  I've racked up about 50,000 miles on it since I've owned it (this time).  I'd say the previous owner put at least that many on it.  What once appeared to be a hopeless project (so much so that even I abandoned it) is now "Homer the Superbus."
