I'm sure everyone's heard the one about the friend of friend of a friend that bought a '63 Corvette Split Window coupe from a little old lady for a hundred dollars? Her son had bought it new and kept it in tip-top shape. It had less than 10,000 miles on it when he got drafted. He was killed in Vietnam and her husband put the car up in the barn and wouldn't let anyone even look at the car, much less think about selling it. Well the husband passed away and the little old lady wanted to clean out the barn so she ran an add in the paper and not really knowing what it was she advertised it as an "Old Chevrolet" for sale for $100.
Well, I've seen the pictures of Alex's Ghia . . . It needs a top (but the frame appears to be in great shape) and needs pans, and some bodywork on the left rear fender, but everything else is in fantastic shape. The paint's even shiny. From the pictures, there appears to be ZERO rust! Not even in the "usual" places. If he got this thing for 100 hours labor, maybe there's some truth to that Corvette story! I guess some "Urban Legends" are really true!
