I'm Back!

« on: August 15, 2006, 09:51:42 PM »
Lightning took out my DSL modem last week.  Nobody stocks a DSL modem . . . not even the phone company that provides me with DSL service.  Well, used to provide me with service.  The term "service" is used very loosely here.  I'm gone back to cable.  At least till the 6 months of cheap service runs out.   8)

You've been missed.  Thought you might have been swallowed by the new house.  :D

How weird,.We have Bell South DSL. It died just after we bought the Mac and took on Bell DSL. A quick phone call to Bell and a new up-graded modem showed up in 2 days. It didn't really come from Bell, but from the  manufacturer somewhere in Ga.
Glad you are back. Like Cindy said, just thought the cabin in the pines had you busy doing the Davy Crocket thing like chopping the firewood and stocking the freezer for the coming winter.

Zen, while you are out in the "backwoods" doing the "Davey Crockett" thing the following information and pictures may be of assistance if any "emergency situations" come up.

INFORMATION: DO NOT USE FOR PERSONAL HYGIENE ( See Attachments)

Alltel would sell me new DSL modem for a little over $100 . . . or give me one free with a two year contract.  Going back to Comcast was cheaper (for the next 6 months anyway), I didn't have to sign a contract, and I didn't have to buy a modem.  I doubt I'll have cable or DSL avalible when I move out into the woods, so I really don't want to get tied down to any type of a contract.

The cabin hasn't swallowed me up, but the swam or yellow jackets in the dining room almost put me out of commision for a while.  Got out with only 4 stings.  By the way, a yellow jacket sting on your ear HURTS!

My computer took a hit two weeks ago.Fried everything inside of coarse.Third computer I have had to hook up in two weeks. For some reason they just don't detect my printer or gives me a weird error message.I give up.I will just keep clicking out of the message for now.Because the 2nd one I disconnected something really bad lol.As soon as I get back all my regular stuff I keep on here I will do a dvd backup. This lightning and surge protectors and etc don't seem to help a bit.Have ya'll ever had to talk to a hp person technician on the phone. Number one they are reading out of a book and #2 they and you cannot understand a dang word. They ought to give you an option of letting you speak to an American. One that you can understand.
