This is an old trick. I used it once when I was in the woods splitting so oak that I had cut up the day before. I was by myself in my 1963 Impala and left the lights on . . . it had been raining earlier in the day and I forgot about them. So, I'm deep in the woods on an old logging road at least 4 miles from the nearest house. This would have been in 1979 or 80 when I was going to Walker Tech taking Auto Mechanics (I made my living cutting firewood on weekends and after school). Back then the only Cell Phone I had heard of is the one they let you make one phone call with just before they lock you up. I used my Stihl 031AV chain saw to spin the alternator . . . I didn't have an extra V belt like in the video, but back then the alternator used a V Belt. It took while, but I got to drive out of the woods!
