hot air intake or cold air intake

I am reading conflicting info on what gives you the best MPG.
A cold air intake or a hot air intake.   SC

I think keeping your foot off the gas pedal would do more for your MPG than anything else.

The power in an internal combustion engine is derived from heat.  The heat comes from burning a compressed air/fuel mixture.  The colder it starts, the more potential energy it contains.  So, cold air is better, but the differance between 60 degree air and 100 degree air going into the intake is probably not enough to notice.  Like Russ said, driving with a light foot is your best bet for improving MPGs.

Also, colder air is more dense, so you can run a bigger main fuel jet to get more power, and in Vees, we always run a cold air intake, sometimes even a ram-air setup. There is much argument over the effectiveness of ram-air under, say 100MPH.

But, we're talking MPG, not power, so the big thing would be to make the job easier to get the air into the car, so use a K&N filter, or at least a clean air filter!
