Homer running yet? I've been out of town for a few days.

well... he said he was going to work on it this weekend. Does someone want to stop by and confirm he is still alive and not trapped under Homer?

I had hoped to send Russ the "reset the counter" message before it went over 800, but no such luck.  He told me the other night that he would have to reformat the counter if it went past 999, as it's only set up for three digits.  I will do my best to not force Russ to have to waste his time and tallents on reformating a silly counter just because I'm too lazy to get my bus running.  OK . . . that gives me 200 more days . . . well 199 now.  Well, I'm not about to do anything with it tonight, so it's really 198.  And a winter storm is supposed to hit us for the next couple of days . . . OK, I'm getting worried now.  Better get it going this coming weekend.   

a little inspiration!

It's hard for an old man to work on junk out in the winter weather.  The good news is today is the last day of winter.  Spring arrives tomorrow.  Homer will run this weekend . . . unless it rains . . . or it's cold . . . or hot . . .   

Or the sun rises. Or it doesn't...

July 2004 Battery Removed.  Check
New larger, upgraded battery installed.  Check
Starter spins the engine over.  Check
Homer Runs! . . .  nope . . .
Check to see if it a gas problem by pouring some gas in the breather and spinning it over.  Check
Homer Runs!  YES!!!!!     . . . for about 5 seconds  .
Kill the 10,000 tiny spiders I have crawling on me.    Check
Find something to catch the stuff that used to be gas so I can drain the tank.   No check there . . . it's break time.

I'm throwing in the towel for now!   

The bus has been closed up for 2 years and water has been getting in somewhere.  Everything inside is musty and mildewed with a touch of mold.  My lungs can't handle it.  I've made it three days without having to use my inhaler . . . I want to keep that streak going at least until the show is over.  Homer won't make it to Bug-A-Paluza 16.  He WILL make it to Stevenson . . . and this time, under his own power.

I'm still going to try to get the tank drained and pull the carb in the morning, but I'm going to leave it at that until after the show.  Once I have the bad gas out of the tank and the carb cleaned, all it will need is the tail lights installed . . . and then the biggie . . . clean it out.
