Late yesterday afternoon Homer's new (used, but new to Homer) engine roared to life. (For those of you who don't know Homer, he's my 73 Type 1 powered Type 2 Transporter partially converted to a Westy Weekender with a faded glass chalk over primer over rust paint job). This was the first time Homer had emitted any engine sounds since last summer when the #4 rod cap came through the top of the block.

I still have to hook up the gas cable and the rear motor mount bracket, but I can't do that until my mom's back yard dries out a little. I tried to move it to solid ground yesterday and it dug ruts several inches deep. I've also got to pull the carburetor off and fix the accelerator pump. But, that's about it!
Homer WILL drive me to the March meeting. At least that's what he told me yesterday. What?

You're VWs don't talk to you? Bet they do if you take time to listen!
