It was worth a watch.  Some good vintage ad clips and funny moments watching the newbies try to figure out how to swap drivetrains(turn the trans. mounting bracket AROUND)  and screwing up the distributors.  The twins need to read up before they start spouting misinformation like "dual port heads in 1967".  There was a dual port in THAT particular car-it must be original, right?
Dig the cool dyno that bolted up to the rear axles!  Also interviews with Bruce Myers, etc.

I thnk what I enjoyed most about it was the two kids working on the red Beetle mouthing off at the begining of the show about the "cops" not knowing anything about racing.  "They just know how to step on the gas in their automatic Crown Vics."  When it came race time, both of them lost at the starting line.  One of them actually killed the engine.

Some of the vintage commercial clips were cool too.  I hadn't see the archeologist digging up a running Beetle commercial since I was a kid, but I still remember it . . . it was one of my favorite commercials and I didn't even like Volkswagens at the time.

:D I enjoyed the show too. But I am partial to 67's!!!    I am ordering the video when it is available in Feb. Herb I will be glad to get it to you and let you make a copy if you like. The interviews were cool. And the footage of rows and rows of OVALS made me have chills. Sure do wish I had those molds they were punching the bugs out with. I could make a fortune. Guess you can make something later than 66 a fast bug after all!!!

That goes for me too! For that matter does someone have those other Volkswagen specials that have aired on the history channel or the speed channel?

O`Boy !!! I got a kick out of that program. I just love to watch" expert " Hot Rodders  with so much information at their finger tips managed to screw up so many times. Only in the land of fruits and nuts.
Did you hear one of these clowns saying he wanted cut the rear apron out of the car so he could pull the engine and transmission together as a unit. Even if he was allowed to cut the apron out, I would have paid good money to watch them trying to get the 27mm tranny cradle bolts out and back in .
In the last run down the strip, I belive one of the Bugs fried the engine if all the smoke was any indication.
Some VolksFolks members may not all be master techs., but they are smarter than this bunch of "experts"
I know that they were "newbies", but would you jump into engine swap on a Jaguar without at least looking at some kind info?
I would be mortified if I ended up on TV showing my ignorance to the whole dang wagontrain.

There was an error while liking
