Hey,Godfather any interest in this?

« on: April 30, 2006, 03:06:34 PM »
It's in a car I might pick up. Any interest?I'd like to make this car a little faster than my 67. I dont think this engine will do it. Kdf material?

What you have there is a 36hp engine with a later carb . Does the engine turn free ?  run maybe ?
I don't know what I would do with it, But Lamar is making some noise about starting restoration on his '59 Sun roof . He might be interested in having a extra engine. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

It's a 57 engine supposedly,It is in running condition and in a 61 bug. I'm between this and another 67. If I could get a hotroded vw motor for it I think I would like the 61?

If you use the '61 and it has its original tranny, you will have to do a little surgery in the bell housing to make room for the 200mm flywheel that would be on your modified engine. The bigger engine is tad wider ,but it will squeeze in. If I remember correctly, it was somewhere in the middle of 65 that the swing axle bell housing was opened up to handle the 200mm flywheel. The '67 bug came with the 200mm flywheel, so no sweat there.
What kind of shape is the '61 body in ?  You already know what I think about "wacking" up a good vintage Bug body for the sake of making it look coooool, but its your coal truck. 8)
