Do it with the body off it's easier that way. PITA if you put it back on.

Is there a trick to making sure the body to pan mounting holes will line up?  That is my only reason for wanting to put the body back on.  I don't wanna weld em in and find out later that the holes won't line up.  Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

It's never been a problem as long as the pans in right to begin with. Trust me you will pay the devil if ya try to do it with the body on. Think about it,it sits on top of the pans your trying to weld in.

I tried installing the old pans and taking a few measurements.  I think this may work.  With the holes on the new pans elongated, this may help with some fudge room when installing the body.  If my reasoning is wrong, do tell.  Virgin at putting in new pans.  I will most likely wait until Kyle finds his bugme video and go from there.

Thanks for the offer man!  I will probably take ya up on it.  If ya need help let me know, I'll do my best to make it over there.  It's hard to get outta the house with a 5 week old at home.  My wife spends all day there and when I get home she likes to have a break.

It has been my experience that it's easier to lay the new pans in place, lower the body, tack them in place, then lift the body back up to do your final welding.  The measuring thing may well work, haven't tried that.  the last set i installed, driver's side went without a hitch, pass. side, that's another story.
