I'll try to do the September meet as well.
I just need to get this thing out of the box and look at it.
I will google Chirp and figure what is going on with it.

CHIRP is an open source program that lets you enter in the frequencies, tones, offsets, names of the channel, etc and have all of the information right there in a spreadsheet and then it up loads the info with each line in the spreadsheet being a channel. Its a simple way to apply names to pre-programed frequencies for a bunch of frequencies. I have 35 channels programmed in mine right now.

You can also download the local repeaters from CHIRP by entering your zip code and a radius around you. Then you import them into the spreadsheet and load them to the radio. Its amazingly simple.

You will need the USB cable to use CHIRP, and it doesn't come with the radio. You can probably borrow one of ours if you didn't get one.

I bought one with the initial order, after reading your earlier post I realized that this would be a must.

I almost ordered the newer version but figured if we all had the same model it would make the local support easier.

Thanks.

This is it: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amateur-radio-exam-prep-technician/id297951496?mt=8

It costs $5, there is a free version with about 20% of the questions in it, but you have to pay in order to get all the questions from the question pool.

You can also take tests at http://www.hamradiolicenseexam.com/. You will have to make an account but it's free to take practice tests there.

I got this one for free, except it is the one for General, not tech. It has all of the questions broken up into sections, so you can take a quiz on each section and then take the 35 question practice exams. It saves the questions you got wrong for review at the end.

I got his email from the club website, I'll email him soon.

If anyone else is ready for the test that day, I'll let him know how many to expect and which tests.

Yeah, I'll be at the meeting, but it might be slightly after the testing. I might come early just to observe the testing process.

Ok, here's his response. I feel pretty confident about passing, but I'll be cramming between now and Tuesday.

Quote
The exams are held at the VFW Club, Lookout Post 1289, 6011 Lee Highway,
Chattanooga 37421, at 6:00 on the first Tuesday of the month. The front
entrance is suppose to be open for the test session, so proceed directly to
the test room. If it is not open, the rear will be.  When you first enter at
the rear, a sign-in book is to the left of the door. You enter the bar,
which is very smoky. Sign in and proceed through the bar to a door at the
back leading up some stairs to the exam room which is not smoky. You will
need to bring $15.00 and a picture ID or two (2) non-picture ID's.

We are scheduled to have an exam on Sept 3rd. If you would like to be
scheduled for that session, send me a cell phone number and I will send you
a confirmation email
