« on: July 21, 2011, 12:10:31 PM »
Hi guys!

Had anyone of you have made good expirience with a Bodyshop in the chattanooga area? The car has a pretty good it in the back, and i want it getting dine the right way. :)

The other thing is the sandblasting. I'd like to get the baywindow rims blasted and painted/powedercoated/... afterwards. where is the place to go?

Thank you! :)

the price is less important then the quality. I think you can't do a lot wrong by sandblasting rims (even painting isnt too hard)

But the Bodywork is tricky. Are they good in that too?

Thanks! :)

Take your rims to Auto Cycle Powder Coating on Dayton Blvd in Red Bank. They sponsor Bug-a-Paluza by sand blasting and powder coating all our metal rods for the trophies. I took my bus wheels there for powder coating and they look great. (423) 876-8132 ‎and be sure and tell Jason you're with the club.

A good paint job and body work can run on the 3000 and up range, depends on how much body work

it has a pretty good dent in the back slightly left of the right rearlight. i dont want a paintjob on the bus, just getting the dent out as clean as possible without messing up the original (faded) paint as much. :) so not paint for the bus. :D

@russ: those look awsome, ill probably go up there, how much did it cost?

I'm trying to remember how much, I paid cash (he didn't charge me any sales tax). He did the sandblasting (they had a fair amount of surface rust on them) and powder coating for I think about $60 per wheel. I'm very pleased with them.

Later I took my new muffler to him for ceramic coating, it turned out great as well.

The banding you see was temporary, he explained it had something to do with how he had to bake it in sections. It has since gone away and the entire thing is just a smooth black. It looks good on the bus.

Our shop is doing restorations in Knoxville..We also have a shop in Dayton area near Watts Bar Dam. Eventually the Watts
Bar shop will be the primrary shop. The cost can run all over the scale..(sand,prime, and shoot $1,500.00)  (to complete body restore and paint $3,000.00 and up)   Show winning paint is one thing or a paint job on a car to be driven daily is going to clost less..Cost depends on the condition of the body.....Small dings like those made by knee or elbo's can take as much as 3 hours each to smooth.out ....One thing you will always find when a car is being bead blasted.  9 out of 10 times something will be covered up from repair made years ago. NOTE: We had a show car in Bug-a-Paluza two years ago....We are now scheduling work for October thru December 2011.    If you need more information..call Don at 423 779-4288.

Good to know that there is a shop near by. I'm not sure that's what the original author had in mind, but you still might be able to help. Can you massage a dent out without repainting?
