gas

« on: May 03, 2011, 10:35:47 AM »
I heard that gas prices are up to $4.40 gal. in the Windy City.  I read a report in some magazine a few years ago written by a Shell Oil big whig  that if every person in the U.S. parked their cars and anything else powered by gasolene for one day a week it would put the oil companies on their butts in a weeks time.  The Shell dude then stated that he wasn't worried because the stupid American drivers couldn't do it. Maybe it's time to light up your steam powered Caddy.

Same thing happened to my bus....  :D

Guess it's our fault for not keeping the gas companies busy enough, Zen.   ;)

Could be. I've had Homer parked since last August. I've had my Baja parked for about 4 years. Joy's convertible for about 5. My autostick for 6 or 7. The Dasher for 3. My 74 Sun Bug for about 10.  Plus the ones that have been parked the whole time I've owned 'em. So, I guess it's my fault that gas is approaching 5 buck a gallon.   ::)

Maybe the Shell guy was talking about functional machinery . Look how much money you would save if you were driving all those cars and then park them for one day and watch the gas price go down. ???

And since I'm hoarding so much scrap metal, I guess that's why scrap prices have gone up too.   ;)

Maybe the Shell dude was right. On CNN this morning was reporting that US drivers have changed driving habits by 30% , buying smaller cars 30 something% ,  drivers curtailing vacation trips by34% saving almost 3.4 million gal of gas last month alone.
Price per barrel of oil went down but the price of gas went up . The price may have spiked because people are not buying. The oil companies  have gas running out their ears. I'm with the Shell dude.  I still say park them for one day.
This just in !   If you rent a car , be sure to fill it up before you return it.  If you don't the top companies are charging as much as $9.00 per gal that you get to pay.
