I don't guess I've seen one of those.  All the Maytag engines I've seen have been twin cylinders like the one I posted, or a single cylinder that looked just like it, but with one cylinder missing.

Plus the angle cooling fins on the cyl., different plug location ( picky picky) ;D It would be pretty neat if you had the fan set up at BP for a B.S. tent with a few chairs/water jug for our old Farts and Handicap folks to rest a min. That is if we ever see a hot BP again.

Or a BP where the wind isn't already blowing 40 mph!   ;D

If I get my hands on one and have it running by then, I'll make that happen next year.

I found a single cylinder on eBay that is complete, but it's stuck. $99 Buy it Now.  Got excited for a few seconds, because I've also seen a good cylinder that had been blasted and honed and included a new piston and rings for $19.  I aslo saw a rebuilt crank case and crank shaft that was pretty cheap.  Then I saw that it was for local pickup only, they won't ship it . . . it's in Colorado Spirngs.   :(  Guess I'll keep looking . . .  ::)

Don't sweat the "stuck" stuff to much unless it's turn into one piece of rust. But when replacement parts are pretty cheap, its not worth all the effort. I have blown stuck pistons out of Maytags with Dr. Johnston's Magical Root Tonic and heat/air.

Someone on eBay sells a tool for 8 bucks designed specifically to push out stuck pistons on a Maytag engine.  It's a spark plug that has been gutted and has a grease fitting on the end and block off plate for the exhaust . . . the guy selling it says he's restored these engines for years and never found a Maytag piston he couldn't push out with this tool and a grease gun.

The pictures of the one that was stuck for $99 look pretty good.  It's all there and even has a small amount of what looks like the original paint.  But by the time I drive to Colorado Springs and back, I could probably buy a restored one locally for less money.  I'm still shopping . . . one is out there somewhere with my name written on it.

Zen, If its the one I saw on ebay when I went to see what you were talking about, he said he would crate it for shipping for $40 and buyer to pay actual shipping charges...

I know he says he won't ship, but he offers some options!

You're excuses are up!  ;D ;D

And the grease piston extractor is located in Rising Fawn!

Thats the trick. Do you know this Guy's name. I haven't been in the old engine game in years and I might know him. How 'bout a 12 cyl Maytag ?  I wish I could find the Pic that shows a Dude who shafted 6 twin Maytags in-line and put it scale down front engine Fuel Dragster with a golf cart rear-end. I would have loved to have heard run :o

I found two for sale in Knoxville for $150 each.  There wasn't much info on them, but they looked to be complete.  One is single cylinder and one is a twin.  The single cylinder looks to be in better shape.  I'll call about them after work.

Hummmm . . . I didn't realize the guy selling the extractor was close by.  He sounds like the kind of guy that might have a few of these old engines laying around . . . 8)

WOW , e-bay is eaten up with Maytag stuff. No excuse for not having a "jam up" engine.

Perhaps the old fart can explain where the term hit and miss came from. I thought all you had to do was turn the key and EFI and computer modulated ignition made them run every time. I would think that if they missed continuously, you'd get a CEL?!?!

(I'm pitching some soft ones to the old man so that he will feel useful. I could have just googled it...)
