For some reason, in my mind's eye I see that sitting on top of an ice cream churn....
No need for butter, it'll leak some oil into the mix...

It doesn't sit on top of the churn. The engine (or electric motor) that drives the washing machine mounts under the machine. The wringer drive is what is used to run the ice cream churn, butter churn, meat grinder, etc. You take the wringer off and mount the attachment in it's place.
Another neat thing I've found looking for the attachments is a long flex tube that bolted on the exhaust . . . I had only seen these things used outside, but with the tube on the exhaust, you could run 'em indoors and pipe the exhaust out the window. I think I'd opt for a good muffler and run 'em outdoors.
