any words of wisdom or advise here for a young aspiring VW fan
For a good experiance with any air-cooled VW there are a handful of absolute rules:
Don't try to run a 34 carb with a 009 distributor . . . change your oil and adjust your vavles every 2000 miles . . . adjust your points first, then set your ignition timing at 32 degrees past top dead center under full advance and lock it down . . . read the manual AND ask someone who has done it BEFORE you attempt it . . .
Other than that, make as many VW friends as you can and jump in head first. If you make a mistake, learn from it and move forward. And most of all, HAVE FUN! The last one is the easy part.
