Fine operation ya got here....

« on: December 06, 2005, 10:29:06 PM »
Howdy all,

I've been lurking for a while and just wanted to step out and say hello from down here in Huntsville, Alabama.  I've cruised through most of the regional VW websites, and Scenic City is the best.

My 17 year old son is currently driving a '69 Beetle but is dreaming of a camper.  I'm not sure about a teenager with a car that has a bed in the back, but we won't go into that.    His '69 is a blast to drive: 1641cc w/.043 valves and a fat cam.  Built to suck gas, though.

After two '78 Campers and a '62 Beetle, I'm currently VW-less, but hope to remedy that this year.

Cheers,

montysano

Thank you very much.  It's nice to hear what other people think about our efforts to keep up with the VW scene and with our own VWs.

I could be wrong, but I take it your screen name has something to do with Monte Sano State Park there in Huntsville.  I have camped there several times and think it is a good place to stay.  Of course, there may be other reasons for your screen name.

I currently own a '79 Westfalia, a '78 Bus, a '72 Super Beetle, a '94 Golf, and my wife has a '00 Passat.

Hang around and don't hesitate to contribute to the forums with any knowledge you may have.

(I think you need to get another camper!)

Welcome to our forums and website. We are very proud of the progress the club has made since our beginning in the late 90's.

We are also very proud of our club ran show, Bug A Paluza with number 8 coming up in a few short months. April 22 and 23 are the scheduled dates.

Huntsville is not that far away and we hope to see you along with all of the other enthusists from your area up here in the spring.

Don't hesitate to jump in as Gobusgo said. We welcome all input. :D

Hey, Monty, if you decide to go to Bug-A-Paluza drop me a line on here. I've been talking to a few fellow Bug owners about going next year. I'm from Hazel Green so we'd be headed the same direction...

Bug-A-Paluza 8 will be held at Camp Jordan the weekend of April 22nd and 23rd, 2006.  Camp Jordan is located in East Ridge, TN which is sandwiched between Chattanooga and the Georgia state line.  It's about 2 hours from Huntsville.

We have camping avalible on the show grounds Friday and Saturday nights, lots of show cars, lots of new and used parts vendors, and activities for the whole family.  Keep an eye on our web site . . . we'll be posting more info on the show soon.

Monty and BugN,
Are either of you hooked up with the North Alabama
Volkswagen Club (NAVWC)? The annual show will be over at
Point Mallard Park July 15/16; yes, NAVWC is going to a two-
day show this year, and we would love to meet both of you if
you're not already in the club...

I just found the NAVWC website the other day. Hope to catch up with you all in the near future. We used to have a blast with the Bugs when I was in High School. Several of my friends had them and we went all over. I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

I know where I'll be in mid-July!  The Huntsville show has always been a good one.  Two days should be twice the fun!   8)
