eBay - Too Many Items????

« on: November 23, 2002, 09:42:40 AM »
I got hooked on ebay 2 or 3 years ago when I got a new rear seat cover for a Beetle Convertible for $2.50 (which by the way I've never installed).  Like most of my eBay bargins, I didn't really need it at the time but it was too good a deal to pass up.

Anyway, ever since then I've logged on at least 5 evenings a week.  The first thing I usually do is type in a search for "VW" . . . just to take a look at anything VW that is about to end.  Then, I search for Volkswagen and then every possible misspelling of it I could come up with (a little trick I taught myself to find auctions that no one else is finding).

Last night, that all ended.  My initial search for VW (in just the auction titles, not titles and descriptions) now returns this message: "Sorry, too many items found. Please narrow your search."  The problem is I'm not looking for anything in particular, I'm just looking!  How do I narrow a search if I don't know what I'm searching for?  And my question for eBay is HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY FIND TOO MANY AUCTIONS WITH VW IN THE TITLE?  That's what I'm there for!!!  ???

Oh well, I guess things change.  I'll have to find a new approach or give up eBay. :D  Give up eBay?    Sometimes I crack myself up!

Some people just have too much time on their hands. I haven't had time to look at E-bay in a month or more. How do you do it, Zen?

It takes dedication.

Try narrowing your search by catagory; ex. only in e-bay motors, or only in transportation.  I've got my favorite searches saved on the My Ebay page, that saves time-just click on your saved searches.

My only beef right now is the way some sellers pad their shipping costs.  I saw an auction the other day for an oil strainer cover with an oil pressure relay built in.  I was going to bid until I saw the shipping was going to be $20 from Cali!!!

C'mon, it can't actually be more than $5!  If you want another $15, just put it in your starting bid, don't sneak it in after it's been purchased!
