Death comes knocking - at any time

« on: November 24, 2003, 11:47:42 AM »
Have you ever talked to someone, even visited for a few hours talking about anything and everything, then gone your separate ways, knowing that you would talk to them another day?  Maybe you forgot to tell them something, important or not, then said, "I'll tell them next time."  Of course you just know that you will see them again.  But then you find out you won't see them again...ever.
This has happened to me.  A "friend" of mine was over for a visit on Saturday and stayed for a couple of hours.  We even discussed him coming to the Dead of Winter campout with me because I usually can't get anyone to go there with me.  Then he left like always.
I say "friend" because he was one of those people that harrass and annoy, yet are friendly enough for you to tolerate, maybe even like.  Yesterday, he drove by the house with a little honk of the horn to say "Hi" and kept on going.
I got a phone call last night from his sister-in-law saying that he had passed out and apparently had a heart attack in Wal Mart last evening...and died.
Strange.  I don't think there was anything I meant to tell him before he left the house on Saturday...except for maybe "Goodbye". :(

Death comes knocking - at any time

Something for us to all be aware of...we never know when we leave someone if it may be for the last time.  That's why it is so important to live each day as if it may be our last and not take each other for granted.  Treasure your visit last Saturday with your friend.
