Cruisin' down in Chattanooga - -and got busted in Georgia

Hey, Folks!
I was down in Chattanooga last weekend, (just to have a day to myself cruisin' in the bug) and I didn't see ANY of my fellow air-cooled guys! Where was everyone?!??  I'm only kidding- the real story is this-
I went on down into Georgia, saw a few sights, and stopped at a gas station before heading back home. About a mile down the road after pulling out of the gas station, I saw blue lights in my rear-view mirror speeding towards me. I thought that maybe he was headed after a REAL criminal, and didn't really think much else about it. A few seconds later, this trooper flies up behind me and gets within about and inch of my rear bumper. Needless to say, I pulled over, thinking that I had a tail light out, or license plate light out, or something, because I KNEW I wasn't speeding.
I got my license out, and prepared to hand it to the officer. I had my window down, and the car off when he sidled up to my window. He asked, of course, for my license and registration, which I gave to him. He walked back to his cruiser, and few minutes later, he came back with a ticket and a scowl. He then said, "Son, do you know exactly how LOUD your car is?!?!"
Since I only have a merged header/quietpack, I said, "Not too loud, I don't have it souped up."
HE then proceeded to tell me, very loudly, that, "We have laws in Georgia against such loud cars. Back at that gas station, you just about made everyone deaf!". He kept this up for a little while longer, and I let him go on. After I thought that he was done, I asked him if I could say somethin in my defense. He let me, and I said, "Sir, I know for a fact that my car is no louder now than when it had a stock exhaust. There were several Hondas back at that gas station with very loud mufflers, and I couldn't even hear mine. I think that it may have been one of the other cars."
About that time, a Honda "Ricer" flew past, loud as anything. The trooper looked up, looked at me, and tore up the ticket, saying, "Make sure you don't mess up down here." He then went after the Honda.
Okay- my point is this- do Officers just have it out for us air-cooled guys, or what?
Strange story, I know, but true.

Oh, I see you met Barney.  Every department 'round here has one.  Don't judge all of them by his actions . . . most are really decent folks.

A little advice though, before you enter Catoosa County, make sure you don't have a tail light out!  The deputy that pulled me over for going 51 in a 35 let the speeding slide and just gave me a ticket for the tail light I had out.  That's a $125 fine in Catoosa County and there is no need to waste your time going to court . . . even if you've gotten it fixed the judge isn't going to suspend the fine.

Thanks for the heads-up, Zen! I fixed my taillight right after I got home that night. Lucky for me the guy was only looking to get me for my "loud" car. I'll keep an eye out for "Barney" from now on, LOL.
