This weekend it was time to change the oil in the Audi and the bus. I went to Auto Zone in Ringgold on Friday, and they were running a sale on Mobil 1 synthetic. I got five quarts plus a Bosch oil filter for $32.99. The oil alone is usually about 50 bucks!
Then on Sunday I went to another Auto Zone to get oil for the bus. I usually get Valvoline VR1 but they didn't have any in a multigrade. Only straight 50 or 60. So I got 4 quarts of Castrol GTX 20W50 and brought them up to the counter. The guy asked me if they were still marked for $1.00 each and I said I didn't think so, but that would sound pretty great. He told me they were going to stop carrying that brand and they had them marked way down. These rang up full price, but hang on he said, I think we were selling a jug for $5.00. He disappeared in the back and came back with a jug that rang up $5.00!
I got the oil changed in both and don't think I've ever had a cheaper oil change!
