Mr. George Rymer passed away today. I know a lot of you knew him well. He had more vw knowledge in his head. Then most people I know put into one.    He'll be missed by all that knew him. Cool breeze vw club, SPl, and many others will miss him... God Speed George.

That's sad to hear. I always loved running into him at the shows and even though he probably didn't know who I was, he always shined a light on some of the crap in front of me. He will be missed.

This is very sad news for the local VW community.

I traded parts with George many times.  I was at his house once trading some bus bumpers for something for a 63 Bug I was working on.  When I told him I was keeping it 6 volt, he said "Wait right here, I've got something for you."  He came back in a couple of minutes with big bad full of 6 volt light bulbs.  Everything from dash lights to headlights.  He said he always converted his 6 volt VW's to 12 volt, but he had been saving the bulbs for years . . . they were good and he knew someone could use them eventually.

He had a secret recipe for a resin that he would mold parts from.  Somewhere I've got some KDF badges and a dealership badge he made.  I've also seen a few old trashed steering wheels that he brought back to like new condition with his "special" resin.

RIP George!   :(

George was one of our first VW buddies we met when we got into them in Cleveland. We were actually a part of Cool Breeze before SCVF.  We were so sad to hear the news this afternoon. He was another one like David who knew VW's inside and out. I remember him pulling his wagon around with him at shows with all kinds of goodies he picked up.

We will miss you George!

Didn't know him well but always saw him at the shows.  Always sad to loose a fellow enthusiast

I was coming to post here about George and I see you all have heard. We love George dearly and he will be sadly missed. You had to know him to know how he could be. Loud, to the point and brutally honest. He's such a great friend and brother. Rest In Peace George. We love you brother! I was posting Swap-A-Paluza on Craigslist this evening and added some pictures from last year's event.  Until I started going through them to post, I didn't realize how many of the pictures I made last year that George was in . . . usually with his back to the camera talking to someone.  VW events won't be the same without him.   :(

We had a memorial cookout today for him. There was no funeral service, only this. We gathered and told stories and remembered and honored our friend. His '56 ragtop, chair and jacket were there along with a multitude of photo's covering his entire life. George was a character. He was very opinionated, stubborn and one of the nicest people you could know. We love you and miss you George. Rest In Peace brother.

I was always happy to see George at every show. I'll never forget the good times at Hangin' Dawg, either! So sad to see him go. One of the first times I met George was when we visited his house to look at pictures of a hearse one of his friends was selling. He had a large personality and a large heart. Nobody could ever fill his shoes.

I don't think he was ever officially a member of the Volks Folks, but he might as well have been an honorary member. We all certainly loved him as one of our own. I've added him to our memorial page where we remember other club members who have passed away.
