Bus Movie

« on: September 18, 2012, 07:41:18 PM »
Anthony was telling me about this bus movie on the Documentary Channel. I looked it up and it's called "The Bus" and while it did air on the Documentary Channel, they also had DVDs for sale that came out this Summer. I picked one up (along with a couple of stickers).

Haven't watched but just the first few minutes of it, but it's good so far. I'm planning on bringing a 32" flat screen with me to the campout so we can have ourselves a screening one night if we like.

We can watch in HD no less! They also had an option for a digital download in 720p, so I grabbed that too. It's on a thumb drive (along with some other movies) and I can plug it into my little WD TV box and play from that. I don't really have a DVD player anymore.

Why don't we bring the club's projector and the small sound system and get Kyle to bing his screen?  A 32" screen is OK, but an 80" screen is better BIGGER.   ;D

Okay, even better! Does the projector have an HDMI port?

I think it does, but we would have to check to make sure.  Who has possion of it right now?  Lamar?

I think Lamar has it. He can confirm the model but I think the Epson XGA 3LCD Projector is the model we bought. If so, it does have HDMI input.

Now the only other thing if we use the projector is we will need speakers. Does anyone have a set of portable speakers they can bring that will hook up to it? I don't, unfortunately.

We have a small 80 volt sound system and two speakers for it.  I think William has them.  We used it for the drive in movie at Bug-A-Paluza.  We may need to find our buddy that was at the music festival to come show us how to hook it up . . . CORRECTLY.   ;D  :yellowbus:

I have a dura brand surround sound system that I used in college that I could bring. It's still in it's box and ready to go.

Alright, sounds like a plan is coming together then! I don't know how much time we will spend watching movies, but I gathered a few other films as well in case we get bored.

Herbie Fully Loaded
The Love Bug (1997 version starring Bruce Campbell)
Gone in 60 Seconds (the original, LOTS of VWs in it)
Little Miss Sunshine
Kentucky Fried Movie (wait for kids to go to bed first)

If you have any suggestions, lemme know and I'll get 'em.

The whole film is well done and charming (really, no other word is more appropriate).

Sadly, all who see it who are not already bus fans will begin to seek them out and purchase them at any price, and they're already being priced out of the reach of the people who appreciate them for the right reasons! I hate it every time I see a bus being sold for five (and six) figures to someone who only sees them as investment potential. It will sit indoors like a museum piece until the new owner feels they can make a few quick thousand passing it off to the next "investor".

Sorry! No idea where that rant came from. Back to watching Barrett-Jackson on Speed!

I'd suggest waiting til the kids go to bed on Little Miss Sunshine too - extreme foul language
