Bug Barn Crush

« on: May 25, 2004, 11:11:17 PM »
According to a post on shoptalkforums.com, the Bug Barn in Jopa, AL is going to have to crush over 400 old VWs.  The last time I was there, everything was pretty well picked over, but there were still a LOT of good parts.  I wonder if he still has that bus load of cranks and RODS?   ???

David, the Bug Barn is located in Joppa, Ala. It's south of Guntersville and up on the mountain. I don't think any of us have been down there in a couple of years. He might have had a few cars going back into the early 60's but I doubt if any of the cars had anything salvageable. His stuff was pretty well picked over.

I think we pretty well got all of his old rods on a previous trip.

Thanks Herb,   Maybe you guys can help me out here. What I`m looking for is a salvageable oval or If I should be so lucky . a split window to replacate a Kommaderwagen. Just the body would do. I can use a floor pan up to 1965 for this project. I already have my hooks onto Barndoor axle tubes/reduction gears and front spindles(same as Kubel). The problem I have is ,that I don`t want to "cobble up" a very restorable oval or split window. I know you can get split window roof sections but I would love to have the small windows all around. I have been out of the loop for a long time, So I don`t know whats out there anymore. If you have any tips on this insane project ,I would love to hear them.

   HELP !!!!
