BOLO

« on: July 23, 2012, 01:26:06 AM »
Be on the lookout for a metal sunroof on I-75 between exit 3 and exit 27 North. PapaKoch was towing his '64 back from my house after a great weekend of working on it and the sunroof (which had been removed to figure out the parts we needed and placed back in the hole to reduce the amount of rain ingress) flew out along the interstate. I drove up after him and he walked the road around where he noticed it was gone.

It was dark and we tried, but I won't be able to travel that road for a few more days, so if anyone sees it, Grab it! Or at least tell me where it is.

We realize its probably smashed flat, but we will need that for the trophy next month! If you have a spare metal sunroof or a sunroof clip, we'd also consider that!

I think I'm going to be a fly on the wall when the Guy's try to put that sun roof back together. They can be repaired in 2 hours or 2 weeks. Timing the cables, timing the crank, getting un-tangled from greasy cables, trying it keep warped plastic cable guides in place, learning a whole new vocabulary .  Can I come watch ? ;)

Oh yeah! I found it this past week. I'll have to post pictures when I get home... I know he won't be there for the August meeting, but I know who is going to win the trophy!!!

Any tips on turning a taco back into a sunroof?

Wouldn't it be easier to put a pop-top on it?  The early bay Westies were converted sunroof buses.

With this recent conversion of the sunroof- does it now make it a mexican beetle?

My bad . . . though it was a bus.   ;D  But now that you mention it . . .

Since it's a bug, it ought to be pretty easy to find a replacement.  There are some bugs @ Pull-A-Part . . . might be time for a road trip . . .   8)

A taco joke... I get it!

I am always down for a pull a part trip. Knoxville had a few last time I looked... Of course he lives in Knoxville, but I'm willing to go for moral support!

Don't straighten it out. Just stuff it with road kill and a few Chihuahua's. Taco-Bell could call it their new heathy wrap chock full of iron and different proteins.  Maybe even a little left-over Chick-fil-A .  Yum,Yum. :P :P
