I agree that the respray proably hurt its value a little, but they did do a pretty good job with it. I looked it over pretty good and the only blue I saw was inside the inner pannels on the top part of the deck lid . . . and you have to look hard to find it.
Really nice older Beetles are going for some outragous prices on the west coast . . . but $13,000 is too much for that car in this area. The "real" value is what someone is willing to pay. If the right person came along and wanted a Beetle to drive every day, they loved yellow and 1969 was a special year for them (maybe they were born in '69, their first car was '69 Beetle, etc.) and they had the money to spend, it might actually bring $13,000 . . . but I wouldn't hold my breath.
You might want to run it on eBay with a high reserve and see what happens. I would definitly get with Blood Assurance try to get them to lower the value. On a positive note, if you won a new car valued at $13,000 today, within 10 years it would probably be worth whatever scrap metal is bringing. As long as you keep it in the condition it's in now, the Beetle will be worth more each year.
