Cast your vote which of the above do you consider to be the classic/reliable VW car?

I don't think I can vote on this one.  I think they all have a place in my heart.

Sure, sure, I like them all.  Deep place in the heart and all that.  But, for me, there's nothing like a Bus...or more specifically, a Westy.  Late model with the beds and the stove and the sink and the electricity and the space and the snailspace power in the rear.  Note the horizontal and vertical curvature of the body, giving it the realistic illusion of squareness.  Did I mention power?  How about slow?  Mmm, mmm good.  :inlove:

I would have to say the Jettas rule...
theres nothing like a little JET on wheels....loves the way it hugs the curves and the power is just awsome;)
i wouldnt trade it for nothing..(well except maybe a newer one with bigger wings)

That is a tough one to answer . . . I'm kinda fond of all VWs too!  But, I'll have to go with the Beetle . . . if for no other reason, just for the fact that it's been in production since 1939.  In 1974 it's production numbers surpassed Ford's Model T to become the most produced car in automotive history, and the ticker has been counting up ever since.  Even after inspiring a "New" Beetle, it remains not only popular, but at least for now, STILL IN PRODUCTION!

The Transporter would have to come in a VERY CLOSE second . . . what we know here as the "Bay Window" bus ('70s body style) is still in production in Brazil!

Tied for a VERY CLOSE third . . . everything else with a VW logo on it!

Well, I wouldn't call it a classic, but the green 84 Rabbit diesel I drove in high school survived everything a mechanically ignorant teenager could throw at it.  Off-roading, running nearly dry of oil, pizza delivery in Gatlinburg, dirt roads in Oklahoma, running out of anti-freeze, you name it!  All with 100K miles plus, 40+MPG with a four speed, and 47 nosebleed-inducing horsepower.  Many fond memories of that one!  Had to get a cassette adaptor for the 8-track deck it came with.  I still have the deck and it still works.  It had a habit of throwing hubcaps, so we screwed them on.  Held my whole drumset and a passenger.  I could go on!  My friends named it "THE Green Rabbit".  It was a dark forrest green, which was pretty and unusual.
