Beetle Insurance

« on: May 14, 2012, 04:02:20 PM »
Hello Volks Folks...
We are new to the Beetle World and I am hoping that someone could provide a suggestion for a good insurance company.  We have a quote from our regular insurance company but would like to explore the posiblity of a speciality insurance company.

Thanks,
Misty and Neil :redbug:

www.hagerty.com
You just have to have a "regular" car.
This will be a classic car insurance policy.
They will ask how far you plan to drive it a year, I usually tell them to the bug show in Pamona, CA a few times so like 6K a year, they donot care.  They just need a number
Good luck.

I ran my 71 Stupor beetle threw the hagarty web page. Just now.   they said $240 bucks a year.   I dont under stand how they will give me a policy for $3500  when the car is worth $199?   SC

Hagerty is great but they won't insure campers. Has anyone any experience with American Modern? http://www.amig.com/

The bus only has liability coverage through State Farm and I'd like something with agreed value coverage instead.

My Buggy has full, I mean Full coverage from American Modern ( part of Geico). $120 year.Hagarty and many other companies will not touch a Dune Buggy.

That is good to know, I'm looking at possibly getting a buggy.

Unfortunately I have nothing to trade you for yours, not yet...
The one I'm looking at (may or may not get) is not complete.
and thus is within my buying power.

Wow...thanks for all the input.  We actually went with Hagerty.  Paid 187.00 with add ons.  Simple process and great people to deal with.

Did you get the extra towing?
It is well worth the $80/ yr. I just had to use mine the other day for the minivan (hose) and it would have been >$150 according to the tow truck guy.  I have the unlimited tows of <120 miles per trip.  It gives a little extra security when traveling, the 120 radius opens up alot of trips w/o being worried about little things like faulty gas guages (up to 2 gal per visit included) and flat tires.  With the ASBug I only carried the OEM 38 year old spare with me and I would have only trusted it about 100 feet, LOL.
I like haggerty.

I have free towing with  a 11 foot stretchie  rope.
Yes towing is a great racket.  Dalton to Lafayette is 75 bucks.  I have tested this 3 times.   AAA sucks.. the tow trucks hate it and all it does is tow you 5 miles or something short like that.  SC
