Back Road Gold

« on: February 06, 2014, 09:02:20 AM »
So did anyone watch Back Road Gold on the Travel Channel last night? It was a TV show starring Corky Coker and Greg Cunningham from Coker Tire/Honest Charlie Garage. They would go out "barnstorming" looking for barn finds, and strike a deal. For one of their picks, they wound up at a hippie's house, home of Hip-E-Beads and our beloved Elmer! It was a slick show and in the end they fixed up a '76 Scout and sold it (to one of my high school teachers who always had a few scouts!). It was a pretty good show!

He did not buy the Judge. The guy asked $250,000 Corky came back and they ended up at $90k and $125k but couldn't close the gap. He bought 2 stop lights instead for $50 a piece and an old telephone switchboard instead. Then they went "barnstorming" up on Sand Mountain which led to a yard full of cars with the wife wanting to sell. They found a '76 International Scout in rough shape and got it for $800. They restored it and sold it for $20,000. It was a rare Bi-centennial edition scout (Spirit of 76 Edition).

Missed it.  My TV died yesterday and I don't have a DVR.  I unboxed my $98 32" Wally World special and got it hooked up late last night, then went to bed.  Maybe I can catch a re-run someday.

In last week's episode, they showed off the Thunderbird that was slammed and painted up like a Mexican lowrider. Only they didn't show the trunk, which I thought was the best part!
