Arrrg another ticket

« on: October 27, 2009, 06:18:43 PM »
Ok,  it happened again,  My speed racer son got another letter of recognition from the police.   It appears to be a ticket for not driving with lights on when it was drizzling in the afternoon.  The worst part is it is is for $120 bucks,  Good Gravy!  Anyone have some sage advice to get out of this one?  SC

I'm gonna go with give him a bicycle until he can figure out how to drive a car.  If you had done it the last time, the bike would have been less than $100 from Wal-Mart.  You could be saving money already....

I'm gonna go with....start taking responsibility for your mistakes and stop trying to find an easy way out of them.   Not intended to piss anyone off, just start obeying the laws that are here no matter how stupid we think they are.  If he started having to pay for the tickets he gets, it might sink in.  Instead, he gets out of it and no lesson is learned.:)

Yeah, what he said.... is "you're not gonna be driving for a while" an option?

If it's a City of LaFayette Ticket, good luck with getting out of paying cash.  If it's Walker County, make him go to court, plead guilty but ask for community service in lue of a cash fine.  Depends on what mood the judge is in.  If he has to pay a $120, it'll hurt for a little while, but he'll soon forget about it.  If he has to spend 4 or 5 of his Saturdays picking up garbage on the side of the road, I would bet he will remember where his headlight switch is at for the rest of his life!  If you pay the fine for him or figure out how to just "get out of it," get ready for LOTS more where that one came from . . .

I'll have to check the ticket on what dept gifted it .  The big problem is he does not have $1.20 and this is $120.
I also think,  he did not "Do the Brown Nose"  and acted pissy to the cop which probally did not help much.

The problem with the lights on law is its stupid and  that sometimes you forget.  I'm guilty , your guilty.  I'm going to  start a grass roots campaign to repeal this unfair law.   Lights Smights   SC

The problem with the lights on law isn't the law is stupid but most drivers in this area are. I dont care if it pisses anyone off.
If you drive a federal vehicle you are required to have the headlights on at all times. Guess how long it takes you to figure that out in the Army???

The dipstick that tried to off me in Sevierville thought it was a stupid law too he also thought that speed limits were purdy dumb sugestions....I bet his diddy paid alot of his tickets too.

Crucify him on it ....turn your lights on when it's raining and be done with it. Too many people are trying to find their way out of stuff instead of being responsible.
Do I break the law??? Sometimes, but if I do I try not to endanger others and I fess up and pay up when caught.Sorry if I sound harsh but thats the kind of thinkin that got my 62 turned into a scrap heap...second thought I'm not sorry if anyone was offended.

Tickets suck!  But I think that the driving with the lights on one is a good law.  It makes the roads much safer.  Good luck.  I got one for too fast for conditions on a clear day with no traffic and I passed in a passing zone and used proper signaling....that I am gonna fight.  Dept of Natural Resources gave it to me...he was flexing his ego I think.  I think he was just pissed that I passed him.  We shall see how it goes Dec 5th.

Now that I would fight. Some tickets are whack but some you just have to earn.

For the privilege of driving my groovy little car around I have to obey the laws that that apply to said privilege. If I don't it may cost me some money.

Laws are needed because a lot of people are stupid.

My last car was a BMW E30. Guess which laws I broke in that.

When I was a kid my Dad would make me go to court every time I got a ticket. I never got out of paying but he always made me go. He made me pay the fine or work it off around the house.

Well, Can't add much to this except it is the law and I think a good one.   Most of the newer cars have daylight running lights from the factory.
S.C, Let the Kid pay the tab .He is not going to learn a dang thing if you keep bailing him out.  He needs to learn to be responsible. He might even look good wearing the dreaded Orange vest and toting a plastic bag on the weekends especially when his friends drive by waving/laughing.   A few nights in the "slammer" with a copy of "Driving Rules/laws for The state of GA." might get the kid's attention and if that doesn't work send him off to the US Army Boot camp.

I don't give advice on child rearing because obviously I messed up my own kids life. But it took several "sessions" before I realized what a big enabler I was....This I know don't pay the ticket make him own his mistake. My son's problem was the seat belt he didn't know why it was there well that would have cost $50.00 except that everytime they stopped him for the seatbelt they found drugs. The problem with our society is that we don't make the kids take responsibility for anything. As a parent we try to jump in and save the day. Now our kids have no respect fot authority or even parents and our society shows that. In my day not only would I have lost my car after the Courts finished with me then it was Daddy's turn and I was wishing I was in Jail. It's called RESPECT and our kids don't have it. I don't know your son and I don't mean to challenge your skills but my son sit's in Prison right now because of his total disrespect for the Laws and the "powers that be". He is finally understanding what it means to follow the rules. Maybe when he gets out he will look up the definition of SEATBELT and follow the rules of the road :(
