I saw that the Christmas meeing is a "Chinese" gift exchange. I've heard of it, but I forget how it works. Do I bring a gag gift or a good 'un?
The "Chinese" thing works kind'a like this . . . everyone brings a wrapped gift. They all go in a big pile. Everyone draws a number. #1 goes first and picks a gift, unwraps it and shows it to everyone. #2 can either take #1's gift or pick another one from the pile. If #2 picks from the pile, he/she unwraps it and shows it to everyone. If #2 takes #1's gift, #1 goes back to the pile. #3 can take from #1 or #2 or the pile. If he/she takes from #1 or #2, they can take from the other one or go back to the pile. #4 can take from #1, #2, or #3, or the pile. Once a gift has exchanged hands 3 times it's dead and whoever has it at that point keeps it. After the last person has gone and all the exchanging is done, whoever had #1 gets back up and can exchange gifts with anyone in the room. I don't remember if the "dead" gifts are off limits when we do it or not . . . it can be done either way. (Somebody else jump in here and lets decide the rules before we get to the party!) To make it fun, there has to be several very desirable gifts and a few that are "less desirable." Even if you end up with one of the less desirable gifts, it's still a blast. :bounce:
