65 Single Cab auction

« on: January 19, 2006, 12:47:58 PM »
Tuesday evening, Kyle called here and told Dee to turn on Speed Television that there was a 65 Single Cab on the auction block at the annual Barrett - Jackson Auction. She tuned in to watch the bidding and told me when I got home shortly afterward the truck sold for $43,000. She said it was a nice, restored truck that looked to be bone stock.

$43,000???????  Go figure.

It was beautiful!  It did have a canopy over the bed.  I never would have paid that much for it though.  Someone did.

Now for the girls they had sitting on the rear bed... :inlove:

Anthony called me and told to turn on Speed Chanel NOW.   That little single cab was a jewel indeed. I use to service a white single cab with the  cloth cover at old Southland VW. It didn't look as good as the one at Barret-Jackson. Didn't cost $43,000 either

That was me that called Dee, too. :?
There's a mid 60s Ghia coupe on the block Sunday. If anyone's watching, please post what it goes for.
I've been tuning in off and on and so far everything I've seen has been going for way above and beyond what I'd ever imagine!  '70 Chevelle for 100K-Good God! Gotta have the right engine, right carbs, right tranny, right color combination. It apparently helps if you can dig out some filthy thing called the "fuel tank sheet" from the top of the fuel tank. In the case of one '55 Chevy vert, you should allude that it might have been on the Mickey Mouse show and have Annette Funicello's underage butt print on the tonneau cover. For 105K plus tax and 8% buyer's premium it's all yours, but for God's sake, don't take it out of the blister pack!
If you need me, I'll be in the garage doing a rotissere restoration on a '76 Mustang II that was featured in an episode of Three's Company. The previous owner said Mr. Furley got to 2nd base in the back seat.

I'm sorry, Anthony. I just checked with Dee and she said it WAS you who called and not Kyle. I've got to start listening better. I didn't have my hearing aids in. Is that a valid excuse?????

Whats really sad is that every patina ,tetanus incrusted PU/VAN is going to be priced way out of line. Even the recreation (Faux) of some big Mopar Hemi was way out there. I bought a 1969 Z-28 new back when I was a wild and crazy Guy.  Out the door for $3,517 and later bought a 1969 Camero SS for a few dollars more. The twin to my SS ,down to the color and accessorys went for over $85,000 I think. I'm still in shock. We better start grabbing up everything VW. I can't wait until a VW 411/412 goes across the block for $80,000 or a Dasher for $95,000.   I'm not sure if I need to be laughing at this point   :(  :-k

I was watching the auction for a few minutes yesterday and saw a 67 Camero will 11,000 miles and lots of documentation to prove it was the correct mileage go for $205,000.    I can't even comprehend paying that for a HOUSE, much less a car!

I've owned dozens of cars in my life, including two new Chevys, and never broken into the 5 digit figures for the purchase.  The sad thing about that Camero is that it's value is in the fact that it has lived most of it's life in a garage . . . and no doubt will continue to do so.   :(   I'll stick with my $400 bus and DRIVE IT TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF  8) . . . which, if I don't get the trailing arms with new ball joints bolted on soon, is becoming a real possibility!
