1970 Westy comming home!

« on: December 08, 2009, 12:59:15 PM »
Going to look at a 1970 Westy this weekend and if it is as promised I'll be bringing it home.

The neat thing is that the Orig door sticker comes with it and it was purchased at VW of Chattanooga in 1970!

Excited!!
KC :D

Are you sure that door sticker isn't a service sticker ?    If the sticker reads VW of Chattanooga it would have to come after 1985 when Nelson Bowers bought the dealership and renamed it. If you buy the Westy you can run the vin# through VWAG in Germany and get the build date, and  what dealership it went to in the US.

The Wifey wants the herd thinned.
Any one in need of a ghia shell? :(
LOL, if it doesn't sell I'll get to it eventually.
The 1970 comes with all the documentation and he stated that it came from "VW of Chattanooga", I believe he ment a VW Place IN Chattanooga.  He has the service records and in the 1st 6 years it went to Cali and then back to TN then other places.

Ghia Shell: (n) ~ A 1973 slimer green Ghia with a brand new set of floor pans Comes with starter, trans, front beam with disk brakes. Brakes were up 4 months ago.  Parking break works great and trannie works in at least 1st and rev.  I have seen so.
Very little rust and only a light coat of filler on nose, yes it was pushed in slightly, but was knocked back out close to shape.  Rockers clean to inspection holes.  holes in rear corners at bottom.

The body is better than most unrestored ghias I've seen, heaters and door channels are good and not ate up, door bottoms solid.

NO TITLE THOUGH.  Came from AL - Sorry. will help with getting a GA registration on it if needed.  I can add it to my Classic Car insurance for $1 and get it tagged here so you can have a history to get a title in TN.

I'll take $500 for the shell with out the pans or $700 with the new pans (full 1/2's - heavy OEM guage, European not brazillian...)  I loose $'s at this price, so pretty firm.  Would be willing to do a partial trade on some Wide 5 alloys.
If it doesn't sell, I plan on welding in the pans and tracks, putting the ratty interior back in it, cleaning the tank and installing a stock DP 1600 I have ready to go and making a rat rod that I'll trade or sell at BAP12.

Thanks,

Rick,
I've got an opportunity to leave work early and do some work near the house.  It would allow me to pull all the stuff out of storage and get it ready for you.  If your comming by today, it'll make my life easier.

I also forgot to tell you that I have the Breather for the Ghia as well.
It'll need a new snorkel for the carbie, but it'll go with the car.

Please let me know in that I need to make arangements for this afternoon.

Thanks,
KC
